These are both extraordinary performances by an extraordinary pianist, though of the two, the First Concerto is the more affecting. The music may be sent smartly on its way by both conductor and soloist, but the patrician ease, nonchalant glitter and authority of Rubinstein’s playing are uniquely his to command. In the First Concerto, while recognisably the same pianist, Rubinstein is altogether more subtle, following his characteristic exuberance and extroversion with playing of a rapt magic and delicacy. In the scintillating coda Rubinstein takes his bravura to a spine-tingling edge, but in, for example, the Larghetto’s central storms there is a brusque, streamlined indifference to the music’s finer qualities. Here there is an almost arrogant dismissal of all difficulties and a prima donna stance sometimes hard to square with some of Chopin’s more delicate and ornate confidences. Mercifully uncut, unlike Rubinstein’s previous discs of both concertos with Barbirolli, these are astonishing performances, occasionally, particularly in the Second Concerto, content simply to astonish. The recording is first rate.Īrthur Rubinstein pf Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra / Alfred Wallenstein NBC Symphony Orchestra / William Steinberg Not only are they faster, but they are also of a more scintillating, scherzando-like lightness. But in a guessing game perhaps it would be the two finales that would most betray the identity of the soloist. Was this prompted by ‘inspirational heat-of-the-moment’? Or was it a deliberate attempt to come closer than others do to the surprisingly briskish metronome markings printed in the Eulenburg scores? The two slow movements are distinguished by exquisitely limpid cantabile and superfine delicacy of decorative detail while again conveying urgent undercurrents. In all but the finale of No 1 (where Pollini on EMI beats him by a minute) his timings throughout both works are considerably faster than most of his rivals on disc. Whether they were subsequently ‘doctored’ we don’t know, but the finished product brings us a Perahia miraculously combining exceptional finesse with an equally exceptional urgency. As enthusiastic audience applause (discreetly rationed on the disc) makes plain, these two concertos were recorded live at Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium. Perahia has never made any secret of his liking for the ‘inspirational heat-of-the-moment’ of a live performance as opposed to a studio recording, where ‘sometimes things get tame’. Murray Perahia pf Israel Philharmonic Orchestra / Zubin Mehta 'When Benjamin Grosvenor finally makes his first entrance, it proves well worth the wait, and his playing beguiles from the off as the dynamics sink, his lines are full of poetry but they unfold with utter naturalness.' Rarely in their entire history have the Chopin concertos received performances of a more teasing allure, brilliance and idiosyncrasy.īenjamin Grosvenor pf Royal Scottish National Orchestra / Elim Chan Argerich’s light burns brighter than ever. The recordings are impressively natural and if Dutoit occasionally seems awed if not cowed into anonymity by his soloist (the opening tuttis to the slow movements of both concertos are less memorable than they should be) he sets off Argerich’s charisma to an exceptional degree. Now, everything is accomplished without a care for studios and microphones, and with a degree of involvement that suggests an increase rather than a diminution of her love for these works. Indeed, her earlier performances are infinitely less witty, personal and eruptive, less inclined to explore, albeit with the most spontaneous caprice and insouciance, so many new facets, angles and possibilities. Here she revisits both concertos and offers an act of re-creative daring, of an alternating reverie and passion that flashes fire with a thousand different lights. Martha Argerich’s first commercially released recordings of the Chopin concertos were for DG No 1 in 1968, No 2 in 1978. Some like this, some don't.ģ) Assuming you DO go to OCS, If your MOS field becomes your officer branch (O's don't have MOSes per-se), Armor officers can be tankers OR scouts. Armor or Infantry? Light scouts do exist (82nd) but you're far more likely to be mechanized on the Cav side. They need Quartermaster officers as much as they need Infantry officers.Ģ) Which 'community' of the Army do you want to end up in. Would going 11B help more than 19D if I am planning on submitting my OCS packet?ġ) Former MOS does not influence OCS selection. Which MOS has it better?Īre they pretty much the same (is 19D solely dismounted right now?)? What are the negatives for each? I am assuming that I will be deployed shortly after my OSUT and so I was hoping to find out what you have experienced in the sandbox. Hey guys I am enlisting Monday morning and was just wondering what your experiences are with these MOS's. One thing they will drill into you "You are a Scout, a jack of all trades and a master of none" you will be able to do all of these things with alot less people. Once again good choice, in the new army you will do the infantry's job, the scouts job, and even some of what the sappers do. Yes, to answer your question, it is a very tight nit MOS. I will have been a scout for 6 years in Oct. God’s creatures would get sick, sad, hurt, and… yes, like the sheep in our story, lost! Every person born since then has been born with sin in his or her heart. With sin came death, just as God had warned. Sin is doing things our own way instead of God’s way. Right away they knew something was wrong. The fruit looked delicious so Eve took a piece and ate it. Instead, he said, she would learn about good and evil and become like God. One day a serpent, who was God’s enemy in disguise, told Eve that she would not die if she ate the fruit. He warned that they would die if they ate the fruit from that tree. He told them they could eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except for one. No one was ever hurt or lost there-not even one sheep!Īdam and Eve were happy in God’s good world. Elephants, bears, cows, sheep, and all sorts of animals lived peacefully with people. God’s world was a good place for people and animals. God loved them very much.Īdam and Eve lived in the beautiful Garden of Eden where they walked and talked with God. God made them in His image, to be like Him. God created a man named Adam and a woman named Eve. After God created all of these things, He made his most important creation-people. He made the sky and dry land out of nothing. In the beginning, God the Creator made a good world. But what if a sheep gets lost? Let’s go to the very beginning to answer that question… The shepherd feeds, guides, and protects the flock from danger. We know that a shepherd takes care of a flock of sheep. They listened carefully as He said: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?” Luke 15:4 All sorts of people were there that day: old, young, friends, and enemies. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.Crowds came to listen as the Great Teacher began to speak. The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. A demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can he?” At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem it was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon. Why do you listen to Him?” Others were saying, “These are not the sayings of one demon-possessed. Many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is insane. This commandment I received from My Father.” A division occurred again among the Jews because of these words. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. I have other sheep, which are not of this fold I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice and they will become one flock with one shepherd. I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father and I lay down My life for the sheep. He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. “I am the good shepherd the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the door if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. The Saints’ offense has consistently been one of the very best in the league over the past thirteen years, thanks to Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees and an offensive mastermind in Sean Payton. I’ll arbitrarily choose the New Orleans Saints to be the team of interest in this exercise. It wouldn’t make sense to try and predict the decision making of the Buffalo Bills by using data from the Seattle Seahawks. After all, football games are played between two teams. First of all, we’ll try to predict play-calling from a certain team. We’ll have to make a few decisions on how we’ll organize our data. We’ll compare the model’s predicted labels for the testing dataset with the actual labels. Both datasets include the features (twelve independent variables) and the label (the dependent variable, aka the play-type). Both datasets must be separate because you have to test your model on untrained data. The testing dataset is the information that we feed into our algorithm to test its accuracy. The training dataset is the information that the model learns and fits an algorithm into. Now, we need to separate ‘df’ into a training dataset and a testing dataset. The first two will be used for us to filter the data frame further, while the latter twelve will serve as our model’s features (or the independent variables). We’ve reduced our data frame (df) to just fourteen columns. I saved this to a CSV file, which I can load into a data frame after importing various libraries which I will need to use.ĭf = df] I scraped a play-by-play dataset using the nflscrapR package. Let’s get started.įirst, we need to load our dataset. It will try to forecast whether the upcoming offensive play will be a pass or a run. In this project, I’ll train a simple machine learning model to predict offensive play-calls. It’s not possible to always foresee your opponent’s plays, but you can try to maximize the accuracy of your predictions. The Eagles and Saints have both won a Super Bowl off of gutsy coaching decisions. Occasionally these trick plays pan out perfectly. I just saw the Carolina Panthers run a fake reverse toss out of the wildcat formation on fourth and inches instead of giving the ball to their 6’5, 245-pound quarterback. Sometimes, strategists get too cute and end up humiliating themselves. Meanwhile, offensive play-callers look to maximize their unpredictability without sacrificing efficiency. Defensive coordinators are constantly trying to predict the opposing offense’s next move. Rat bone marrow stem cells isolation and culture as a bone formative experimental system. According to this finding, Symphytum officinale as a natural compound can significantly induce osteogenic differentiation of rat BM-MSCs. The results illustrated that Symphytum 6 C had the most osteogenic induction effect compare with osteogenic standard medium. In the present study, the ability of homeopathic remedy Symphytum officinale to induce osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (rat BM-MSCs) was studied. Lay SummaryĬell therapy has been proposed as an effective treatment method for bone regeneration using stem cells and osteogenic inducting mediators. ConclusionsĪccording to this finding, Symphytum could enhance osteogenic differentiation of MSCs and can be considered as a safe, low cost, and highly effective drug for bone regeneration. Also, quantitative analyses of ALP activity revealed that Symphytum 6 C caused the most increase in the ALP activity up to 4.04 ± 0.34 and 7.86 ± 1.38 on day 7 and 21, respectively. Symphytum 6 C had the most color intensity in ALZ and ALP staining assays. MTT assay results illustrated that Symphytum 200 C had a high cytotoxicity (to about 75.2 ± 3.12), so that lower potencies were used for the next experiments. The osteogenic induction ability of Symphytum has been assessed by alizarin red staining (ALZ) and quantitative alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity assays and compared with the osteogenic standard medium. Cytotoxic effect of Symphytum on the MSCs was evaluated by MTT assay. MSCs were isolated from the rat’s bone morrow. In the present study, the ability of homeopathic remedy Symphytum officinale to induce osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (rat BM-MSCs) was studied Methods Cell therapy has been proposed as an effective treatment method for bone regeneration using stem cells and osteogenic inducting mediators. |
